Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain In Abdominal Area

Question: Hi. I've been in pain for 7months in my abdominal area. My ab muscles always are so sore and in pain. Around belly button. If I press on stomach there it hurts. I have pain on left lower side of abdominal area. I am always super bloated. I cannot pass any gas unless I take a football and lay on it in left side. I've had ct scan and Mri. Both showed cyst on liver and lesions on 3 vertebrae. Small ambilical hernia. I don't have a gall bladder. Had endoscope and colonscope. Both clear. All doctors send me away saying ibs. I've had ibs for long time and it is very manageable. The pain I'm having in my abdominal area doesn't feel ibs to me. My diet has been chicken broth soup homemade and eggs in morning. I can't eat anything else. What is it?

Brief Answer:
Please give detail feedback.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/35 - pain in abdomen 7 months - around umbilicus - bloating - pain left lower - uses football to assist evacuation of gas - CT and MRI liver cyst and lesions on 3 vertebrae, umbilical hernia - normal upper and lower GI endoscopy - all Doctors say this as IBS - diet as noted - can not eat anything else - wants to know further ...

I would like to know a few points in detail for me to assist you more:
- What exactly happens if you eat anything else other than chicken broth soup and eggs?
- Please give details of the medicines you have been prescribed and its effect?
- Stool: consistency, color, smell, frequency? Do you have to go after food?

My thoughts and advise:
- Such a problem can occur in dilatation or spasms of the colon, giving you all the symptoms you have.
- X-ray of the abdomen in standing position when you have maximum bloating as it may show dilated loops. (This is missed by CT scan).
- Stool tests on 3 consecutive days.
- Activated charcoal tablets and probiotics.
- Antispasmodics when there is pain in abdomen.

If all the investigations are normal, the probable diagnosis is always IBS- by name this is Irritable Bowel Syndrome. As the name suggests there is irritation of the bowel causing all the symptoms. This can be to anything from foods, thoughts, stress, anxiety and so on.

Control of the stress and anxiety if you have is very important.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask further relevant queries if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

If i eatt other things i get so bloated i look pregnant. Im 6,5 and weigh 209 and ive lost 22 pounds so far from all this.

I am on prilosec for gerd. I was on bentyl for ibs. Worked less than half the time. I was prescribed tramadol and it worked reall well but i had bad reaction to it. Been on antibiotics. On one now for 4 weeks cause my urologist says my prostititus is flaring up and indont think it is. Im also on candida cleanse and low sugar to eliminate thatbpossibility that i have an overgrowth from antibiotic usage in past. Just started this Also on probiotic later in day

My stool is soft and very light brown or yellow. When i wipe i wipe yellow liquid on toilet paper. Smells horrible. I have pooped 6 times today so far. I go immediately after eating food. .

Brief Answer:
Remaining tests, add pre and probiotics, get stool tests for 3 days

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Read and understood the problems and the medications you have mentioned.

I would advise you the things already mentioned above.
- X-ray of the abdomen in standing position when you have maximum bloating as it may show dilated loops. (This is missed by CT scan).
- Stool tests on 3 consecutive days.
- Activated charcoal tablets and probiotics.
- Antispasmodics when there is pain in abdomen Continue Bentyl.

Getting bloated with other food indicates that you have developed sort of allergy to it. Or there may be insufficient pancreatic enzymes. you may please try to take Pancreatic enzyme supplements with food.

GERD looks to be part of the IBS and continue Prilosec.
I hope your prostatitis is under control and you may been off the antibiotic. Yes the long term antibiotics cause gastrointestinal disturbance and it is better to take pre and probiotics, curds and bananas if they suit your intestines.

I hope this answer helps you.
