Question: I am having a weired problem going on in my mouth:

1. I feel pain in my throat and feeling streched nerves in my throat.
2. Something is happening in my throat which is making me swallow like reflex for no reason even though i have nothing in my mouth. My mouth gets dry because of this.
3. While this swallow reflex i am having pressure on my hard and soft palates like soft palate do not want this swallow reflex to happen and soft and hard palate feel preasure and feels like it blocks airflow and troat get tighten on that moment then i have to open my mouth and suck on saliva ir drink some sips of water to breathe normally or else if feel like i am getting choked.
4. When i suck on candy like halls and strepsils i kinda feel bit of relief not completely but candy helps me lower down this uncontrollable reflex of swallow.
5. I am gwtting some sour fluid reflex as well from my stomach into my mouth sometime like once or twice a day.

I am totally restless in this condition. I cannot lay down to sleep. If i do all the rhings that i told above gets on extreme level and then i have to jump out of bed or sit down to breathe as palates do not let me breathe when that reflex keeps on happening then i feel soft palate and throat getting pressure and get blocked then i cannot breathe then i have to ait straight and open mouth and suck on saliva or drink some water to remove that choking feeling.

Please help.

Brief Answer:
palate weakness and regurgitation and chokings

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is so sad to know that you have been facing all these issues lately. I would also like to commend you the way you put it together in history. Palatine muscles and all muscles of throat have to contract and relax for different sets of movements and functions with a syncrony.

Based on all these details, it seems as in your cases, you are facing issues with that harmony and syncrony. This can be due to issues with the nervous system which controls all these. In some cases it may termed as bilbar palsy or pseudo bilbar palsy. But in either case, you can not take these issues lightly, and for that you need to have a detailed examination by a neurologist for gag reflex and other sets of movements and any discripancy between those.

You also need to consult a speech therapist, who can work out with certain exercises to improve the muscles which support tongue and palate while swallowing and breathing.

Meanwhile, try not to lye flat for a while after eating meals, and sleep in a little proped up posture.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me maximum for encouragement before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.

Hi! Yes. And if any neurological issue is picked up, he may ask you for a neurologist review too. But in either case, you can't take these symptoms light. Also that speech learning therapist may also be helpful in suggesting relevant exercises for better control and harmony between these muscles.

doctors advise

Detailed Answer:
Hi! I am sure, he would have found something in the favor of allergy, as if contraction or swelling is evident inside the throat soft tissue, that is called angioedema and is reversible with anti histamines, both tablets and injections along with 01 shot of steroid if breathing is getting impaired. Also you would need to identify and avoid the offending agent. Regards.

Brief Answer:
obsession disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

If the difficulty in swallowing exists even when the allergic inflammation settles down, you may need to get further evaluation with a neurologist and once everything comes out to be normal, then we can jump up to psychological factors. But since, you have been examined by a doctor and he has come up with some diagnosis based on his findings, I think final verdict should stay with him. So I would suggest to carry on his management and then reassess yourself for improvements.

You need to understand another thing. Difference of opinion may exist and it is a discussion, with everybody aiming at, coming up with all those possibilities which can bring improvement to your condition and you are part of the whole discussion.
