Suggest Treatment For Light Menstrual Bleeding And UTI?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: I have had a uti the past couple months and I've been prescribed with ciprox, bactrim, and macrobid at separate times. I'm pretty sure that it's pretty much gone, but my period the past couple months(counting this month) has been light and barely lasted 4 days, when it's usually heavier and lasts 4-5 days. I'm on that time of the month right now, and it started today, but it's light and it started 5 days early. what is going on? why is that?

Brief Answer:
need to undergo thyroid work up..

Detailed Answer:
Hi
there
good day

thank you for providing me necessary info.

happy to know that you are not having any major symptoms.

in my opinion the problem you are facing might be explained in three probable conditions.

1.similar kind of symptoms might be seen in women of child bearing age with anemia(low hemoglobin)

2.in conditions of thyroid abnormalities like hypothyroidism similar picture is seen but i am not able see any associated symptoms in you.Its advisable to go for thyroid work up as there is family history in spite of no symptoms.

3.it can be a normal variant also.

As there are no symptoms of major significance kindly observe for one more cycle and go for lab work up like hemoglobin and thyroid profile.

feel free to ask any doubts.

So if I feel like 90-95% of my uti is gone, how do I get rid of it completely?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Srilatha Myaka (12 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Sensitive antibiotics can eradicate UTI completely

Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Good day

The feeling of betterment is due to symptomatic relief.

Mostly sensitive antibiotics can completely remove infection.

But due to anatomical nature of female genitalia there is more chance of getting UTI than males.

I guess antibiotics were given to you after urine and culture sensitivity testing, so your urinary tract infection (UTI) should have cleared completely.

You need to understand "How to prevent UTI"

1. Take daily 3-4 liters of water and cranberry juice is also good.

2. Washing of genitals before and after sex.

3. After attending to toilet, wipe from front to back in perineal area.

Hope this satisfies your query

Brief Answer:
Kindly go for urine examination.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
I can understand your concern
As you rightly said UTI are not so common in young people.

Any way exposing to some harmful chemicals can cause problems like UTI and reduced immunity but its a very rare possibility.

Most of factories will appoint specialist doctors called industrial medicine specialist.

So kindly see that doctor for better analysis of chemicals or any substance produced in your factory, which might be a contributing factor in developing urinary tract infections in you.

kindly do above test and let me know the results.
