Brief Answer:
causes explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Please do not worry, this is not an uncommon issue.

Common causes are hormonal imbalances of which thyroid is one hormone. Imbalances in other hormones like estrogen progesterone, LH, FSH also cause such issues. Other reasons are utreine or cervical tumors called fibroids that are very common and non cancerous. Sometimes cysts in the ovary or over growth of the uterine lining called endometrial hyperplasia also results in this.
Sometimes no cause is found for such bleeding and unexplained bleeding is called dysfunctional uterine bleeding [ DUB].

If the bleeding is uncontrolled then you may take tablet tranexamic acid initially to control bleeding. It needs to be taken after prescription as it causes blood to clot and so needs to be given after examination and detailed history.
So it is better to get an examination and an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and then take appropriate treatment.

Please do not worry as all the causes are very common and mostly hormonal imbalance is responsible that can be corrected with drugs.
Hope this satisfies your query.

Brief Answer:
may need to go to ER

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,

Since you cannot see your doctor and are bleeding heavily you may try taking tablet mefenamic acid 250 mg one dose. If it decreases then try to see your doctor as soon as possible. If it does not decrease then you may need to go to the ER and look for a cause and then get injections to stop the bleed. Unfortunately there are no home remedies to control such bleed.

I do understand your issue however if the bleeding is heavy then oral drugs may not control it and you may need injections or even a blood transfusion depending upon the severity.
Hope this helps.
