Posted on Wed, 3 Sep 2014
Question: Even though I have an appointment tomorrow morning. I just need my mind to be put at ease. I have four enlarged painless to touch lymph nodes in the groin. I'm on amoxicillin and it doesn't seem to work. Currently I suffer from hemerriods, I have had bv, And I am highly allergic to latex condoms. I haven't had unprotected sex in about 8 months. I have been test for gon., CHylmidia, and hiv within this year. I'm soo annoyed. I had a CAT done on two of the masses and I was told it was a cyst by one doctor and swollen lymph nodes by another. When I apply pressure to the inguinal masses I feel like it makes my leg hurt. Feel like someone is squeeze my leg.

Brief Answer:
Likely lymph node due to infections.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
I think you are worried about the lymph nodes in the groins.
It is good that your tests for Gonorrhea chlamydia and HIV is negative.
The CAT investigation reports can be clarified whether it is cyst or lymph nodes with a radiologist for opinion.
Presuming to be lymph nodes which is likely:
There are many causes of enlargement.
If the size of lymph node is less than 2 cm it is not much significant.
If more than 2 cm it can be due to infection in the thigh, anal canal may be hemorrhoids, vulva or vaginal infection, buttocks perineum.
they can be painful.
the cause for the infection has to be traced.
Likely to be due to hemorrhoids or vaginal infection
You need not worry about HIV as it has to be more than 2 cm and be present at 3 or more groups at different sites in body which is not present in you.also HIV is negative.
You can get back to me for any clarifications with details
Thank you

According to the doctor that sent me to get the cat scan said it was a cyst. A few days later another doctor said it was enlarged lymph nodes and she checked the hemerriods said it wasn't inflamed. But still put me on the antibiotic amoxicillin. The nodes hasn't changed in size at all. It's annoying when doctors can tell u what's wrong. I also took an abnormalities blood test. It can back fine. What does that eliminaeven being the cause. The first doctor also said all my organs are good.

Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
it is good that your many blood reports have come normal and all the organs are normal.
I could not get the last senetnce meaning "What does that eliminaeven being the cause".
it is not clear of size and duration of the lymph node enlargement.associated symptoms with which it was associated when first started.complete history.
if the size is less than 2 cm you need not worry.

I had these lymph nodes since and they not grown in since. how can I measure them at home to see if they are smaller then 2cm. I can tell you they not a size of a bean they are smaller. maybe pea size no bigger then that.

Brief Answer:
Can ask for Biopsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
Okay I do not know the details of blood tests done to comment on it and as they are normal you need not worry.
You are getting to anxious about the lymph node swelling.are you worried about HIV or some other disease which is making you so anxious about it.
If HIV do not bother as i have made it clear it is not possible.
The size mentioned is small so may not be of much significance.
The inguinal region lymph node enlargement of this size is usually of not significance.
You can go ahead with the doctor consultations. You can ask your doctor if there is need for biopsy to confirm diagnosis (it also rules out if any cyst as diagnosed by one doctor). There may be need for another antibiotic course.
You can get back to me for any clarifications else please close the discussion and rate.
Thank you
Dr Bharatesh
