Anal canal

What is Anal canal?

Terminal portion of the alimentary canal; about 4 cm long, beginning at the anorectal junction, where the rectal ampulla abruptly narrows as the alimentary canal pierces the pelvic diaphragm (levator ani), and ending at the anal verge, when the anoderm that lines the lower anal canal changes to hairy perianal skin; surrounded by the internal and external anal sphincters.

I have been suffering for months with grade 2/3 internal haemorrhoids. The main symptom was I would have to double wipe after a bm about 30 mins later. Nothing excessive at all but enough that my anus was always irritated and sore . I use baby wipes and then use shower head to clean. I got them banded 5 days ago but symptoms have not improved at all yet. I think the bands are still in place but can't tell. I assume the hemmorroids caused the problem as I never had this issue until I got them. My own proctologist is unhelpful. Would you know how long it normally takes for this to improve. Or should I have seen improvement already . Also have you heard of a hemmoroid causing this issue? Someone told me it could be fecal matter trapped by it or XXXXXXX but it's been 5 days since banding and it's still happening Thank you

doctor1 MD

Hi,

I have been dealing with a fissure for two months. The pain has completely subsided, but the skin tag is still in place and still is itchy and irritable. I believe it is still healing. I do have a small amount of blood during bowel movements and it still feels as if im pushing to hard to get anything out. I think I may have a internal hemorrhoid but there is also a very small amount of sometimes yellowish pus i suppose. I have no abdominal pain or pain while using the bathroom. Is this just me still healing or does it sound like anything else. I feel like I dont have any of the symptoms associated with alot of things but I know I did have the fissure that was extremely painful but not any more.

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
The skin tag is called Sentinel pile.
