Suggest Remedies For A Rash In The Pubic Region

default
Posted on Thu, 1 Sep 2016
Question: So I was taking a shower last night and I noticed I had a burning sensation as the hot water was running down my pubic region. I looked down and I had this rash on my pubic region as well as on the bottom part of my shaft of my penis. It itches a little but not to bad and it burns a little but not to bad. I loaded it up with hydrocortisone cream last night and went to bed. It was still there this morning. It has not spread at all but it covers mainly the right side of my pubic region and just a couple small spots on my shaft. I remember getting home from work and puting on a pair of shorts and went into the back yard to do some work. I never noticed it until I took the shower so I feel like this rash came on between the time I put my shorts on and took a shower. I woke up this morning and put more cream on it and went to work. I did just check and it has not gone away. Any idea what it might be? I have been married for over 10 years and I was sexually active the night before the rash with my wife but my wife does not have a rash. Both my wife and I are faithful so it cant be a std. Any clue what it might be?

I uploaded a picture. I went to the urgent care after work and they told me it was a yeast infection and put me on a cream. The picture I just posted is a picture after I already put th cream on it so you can still see the rash as well as the cream. Let me know

Brief Answer:
Looks like fungal infection, apply antifungal cream & take antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:

I have reviewed the attached photograph and it is looking like superficial fungal infection.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream on the affected area twice daily for 2 weeks and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once daily for itching.
This needs to be continued for 2 weeks for the infection to resolve.

Just curious as why and or how I got it? I'm a clean freak and always showering. It just showed up out of know where. Is this common for men?

Brief Answer:
Predisposing factors for fungal yeast infection

Detailed Answer:
Fungal yeast infection is a common infection which can occur in anybody though it is common in diabetics, patients on long term antibiotics, immunosuppressive drugs or in persons with reduced immunity.
It can also occur in hot and humid conditions and if the sexual partner is having history of vaginal discharge.
Don't worry as it is a very common infection in men but can be easily treated.

I appreciate it. The anti fungal is helping and its going away. I am curious about the immunity thing above. I am wondering if I might have a immunity issue. The past 6 months I have had several other small issues. I had a cat-scan done in may and found out I had a enlarged liver and spleen. I went to a Gastro and had tones of blood work done and other test and they told me I had a Fatty liver. I also have been experiencing sores on my tongue the past 6 months that continuously come and go every week. I also had a yeast infection on my tongue. Ive been to several dentist and a oral surgeon. I had a biopsy done on my tongue a few weeks ago and found out that I have hyperkertosis. The oral surgeon said its common and to not worry about it. He told me its stress and I keep rubbing my tongue against the front of my teeth and that is what keeps causing these sores. But the more I think about it and read online (which I know is my first mistake) It makes me wonder if these are all connected. Is there a chance that stress is causing all these issues? or could it be a week immune system?

Brief Answer:
These are not connected, don't worry as they are common in normal persons

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As I already said that yeast infection is a very common fungal infection which is seen in normal individuals apart from the ones with diabetes or immunosuppressed.

Your tongue hyperkeratosis and this yeast infection is not related.

Stress will not cause fungal yeast infection although a weak immune system is definitely an aggravating factor for fungal infection.
Still I would recommend you to not stress too much as it something very common and can also be seen in healthy normal persons.
