I’m 57, And Have Been Married For Twenty Years. I

Question: I’m 57, and have been married for twenty years. I have noticed a significant decline in potency over the past several months and its become concerning. There is definitely something “off” going on in the basement. Can you assess my thinking below and give me your professional opinion?

Thought 1: Age
At 57, I suppose there would be some decline in potency, but I am thinking not to the current degree.

Thought 2: Medication
In that past year, I started taking the following medications:
Lisinopril 5mg
Metoprolol ER Succinate 25mg
Rosuvastatin 10mg
(I have also been on Levothyroxine 125mg for many years)
Given that Lisinopril and Metoprolol – to keep an enlarged aorta in check – impacts heart function, I suppose these can be a contributing factor.

Thought 3: Nervous system (see attachment)
Degenerative changes in the cervical spine have been noted. I wonder if there could be some nerve being pinched that is impacting things down below.

Thought 4: CPAP
I started CPAP therapy this year – I was definitely getting crappy oxygen levels at night based on my O2 Ring oximeter worn at night. O2 levels have actually improved significantly, though, with the CPAP .therapy at night.

At this point, I have two questions. 1. What is your professional opinion on thoughts above, and 2. Are there specific blood tests I should get that help find an answer?

Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts and reports that you have uploaded the problem of reduced libido ( Sexual potency ) that you have noticed is due to following few factors
1) Advancing age .
With advancing age after the age of 55 years it is a natural decline in level of sexual potency in almost 80 % of population .
2) Hypertension and Thyroid problem that you have are the primary factors that may be contributing to reduced libido.
3) Declining Testosterone levels .
As age advances there is decline of 1% of testosterone levels in blood for every year and this is the cause for reduced sexual potency after the age of 55 years.

Get your blood tests for Serum Testosterone levels done so that exogenous Testosterone can be taken (if required ) .

Following measure will help you to boost up your confidence and help to increase sexual potency .
1) Practice regular exercise for 45 minutes followed by meditation for 1/2 an hour in the morning.
