How Can An Intergluteal Fissure Be Treated?

default
Posted on Tue, 23 May 2017
Question: I started getting a gluteal cleft wound a few days ago of unknown origin. It is vertical, following the cleft, and open. It burns and stings to the touch and itches as well. I have tried antifungal and bacterial barrier creams with zinc to see if it would soothe it and it does somewhat but am afraid it may get bigger and it does not seem to be going away. It is hard to sit for any period of time. I am thinking I may also have a yeast infection due to antibiotic use but that was a week ago, this came up overnight. The itch is there in the vaginal area, but is not constant or severe usually and there is no discharge or smell. I am at a loss. XXXX

Brief Answer:
It is an intergluteal fissure most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, and thanks for your query to HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question carefully and reviewed the attached picture.

From what you have described and attached picture, it is likely to be an intergluteal fissure.

Hence please follow:

1. You should avoid sitting on the coimmode with your cleft being over stretched, try sitting side ways on it, till this heals.

2. Do not use toilet paper when done, instead use water and do not rub the area roughly.
3. Dry the area with a soft towel, dabbing it dry and not rubbing it.
4. Apply the bacitracin ointment there after.

5. Sleep side ways and protect the area from moisture and keep it dry at all times.
6. The skin has a great power of healing and given the proper dry atmosphere it needs, it will heal within 2 - 3 days.

7. Avoid riding the bike for a couple of days till this has healed fully and sit on a soft cushion when you have to sit for long periods. The use of a Doughnut shaped cushion is often recommended so that there is less pressure on the lesion.

Use analgesic medicine like Tylenol 650mg every 8 hourly after food or Naproxen 550 mg twice daily. These are available over the counter and will help with the pain and the inflammation. In case if the area gets swollen, red and very tender, means that the lesion has become infected and a visit to your local physician for antibiotics and a comprehensive examination is warranted then.

Hope I have been helpful and please feel free for further discussion.

Regards

OK doc. I've been doing that. Not really getting better yet, but isn't as sensitive. But I took a pic this am as I feel little bumps. My legs only have still been very sensitive and achy like the pain in joints when you have the flu. Also have had a sore throat.I woke up with a headache this morning as well. I was thinking at the time it was a couple of things hitting me at once. The sensitivity and pain in my legs especially in my hips was really hurting especially yesterday. Looking at this pic this morning, could this be shingles??? I was vaccinated a few years ago when I went back to college but this is really weird. I'm attaching the pic. XXXX

Brief Answer:
You should see a doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear back!

I have read your question and reviewed your picture .

From all symptoms you have and from the picture you have send you may have Herpes infection .
Herpes infection can be due to low immunity and have flu like symptoms as you have and small blisters .

Hence to exclude Herpes infections you should see a doctor .

But to relive all body pain you should take painkillers such as Tylenol or paracetamol.

If you were vaccinated and you have not had contact with any person with shingles, there are no chances to be shingles .

Hope I have been helpful and please feel free for further discussion.

Best regards
