Can Lower Back Bruise Cause Some Shift In Lower Back Nerves?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Sep 2014
Question: Can a lower back bruise or twist as in poses done in a yoga class, possibly cause some shift in lower back nerves, or positioning to trigger G.I symptoms? I am having lower back soreness after an intense yoga class, and then felt very constipated and achy. Also, my sinuses have been full. Fever of 101, and achy teeth or gum pain....

Brief Answer:
Suspect a possible infection to be the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I suspect an infection due to the presence of a fever, one which is most probably related to your sinus (bacterial sinusitis), gums (gingivitis) or even an upper respirstory tract infection.

Now let me explain how this might be relsted to your other symptoms. As is seen very often with respiratory or oral cavity infections, dehydration accompanies them. Dur to the oral cavity infection the individual struggles to stay hydrated and nutritioned, or due to the respiratory infections the individual loses a lot of fluids, and so on.

The dehydration can easily cause irritation of the kidneys or the renal tract, resulting in lower back pain (as the kidneys are located in that region, also called the flank region). The reduced hydration levels can interfere with digestion and result in constipation, which is your primary complaint.

Of course ma'am, all these are only based on the provided information. A physical examination will be mandatory in a situation like yours, due to the presence of physical trauma. ButbI strongly recommend the initiation of medications to address a possible infection causing the rise in body temperature.

So in my opinion, I doubt the trauma to be the cause and suspect a possible infection to be the cause, but only a physical examination will be more conclusive ma'am.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

Ok Thankyou doctor. I do have a sinus spray, so will use that. So you think the fever is due to a Sinus infection and not a gastric one. I will take ibuprofen to lower fever, but there is an uncomfortable feeling around sacroileac joint and left side of frontal intestinal area that comes and goes. My doctor thinks it could be diverticulosis and just suggests more fiber and fluids....I failed to mention my congestion which came on after constipated feeling....

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again.

Yes I do suspect the sinus infection to be the cause, along with possible dehydration. Which is why I would suggest a course of antibiotics along with adequate hydration, and not just ibuprofen.

The gastric symptoms could be independent of the sinus infection, and so they should be addressed separately. Diverticulosis is a diagnosis made only after a colonoscopy, and without that investigation this diagnosis should always be written with a question makr, and not be taken for granted. So please do request for one at your earliest convenience.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further assistance, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
