Whom Should I Contact For Nasal Congestion?

For the last 3 weeks I have a real bad nasal congestion only. Can't breathe thru my nose. I don't know what Doc I should see, if a General Allergy Dr or a Nose Specialist? I already have been diagnosed with bad allergies due to Dust, Pollens, Roaches, etc. but my previous allergies come along with sniffling, watery eyes, sneezing, etc, Never just nasal congestion like now for the past 3 weeks. Please Advise on which type of Dr. to see?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain nasal congestion without the other symptoms of allergy like sniffing, watery eyes, sneezing etc can be due to Sinusitis caused due to infection in sinuses and fluid accumulation in sinuses secondary to infection can lead to difficulty in breathing through nose..
I would suggest you to consult an ENT exert and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and advise investigations like PNS view or MRI of sinuses, nasal endoscopy etc to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treat you accordingly..
As of now you can take decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline [Otrivin], do saline nasal irrigations and steam inhalations..
Avoid chilled foods and use a humidifier in your room..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
