What Mental Disorders Are Associated With Cough Medicine Abuse?
I'm a 25 year old male. When i was younger and in highscool abuse a alot of cough medicene for the halucenigenic high. I experience alot of mental abnormalities now. I want to know waht kind of mental disorders are associated with that kind of drug abuse, what kind of brain damage???

Dependence on cough syrups can in the long run lead to mental problems like anxiety and depression. It can also cause sexual problems and seizures. From what you have written, it appears you are not using these any more. If not, please try to stop as soon as you can.

cough medicine like Dextromethorphan is a nonopioid cough suppressant alternative to codeine. At doses much higher than medically recommended, DXM produces hallucinations and dissociation. It can cause dissociation and psychotic episode in overdose. These effects are temporary and resolve with discontinued use. Research is lacking on long-term effects of regular dextromethorphan use.
