What Do Tiny Red Bumps In The Vulva Indicate?

Hello, I have developed an irritation in my vulva where I have noticed tiny red bumps along the wall. I have also seen them, what I believe is to be my cervix. I am in a monogamous, 2 year relationship and I am just now getting over my period, to which I wear tampons for. This is the first time I have developed this. What do you think this could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Red bumps in the vulva can be ingrown hairs, Fordyce's spots which are harmless. Take care of your hygiene, keep the groin area dry & clean. Apply Hydrocortisone cream for relieving.

If it persists it can be genital warts or genital herpes. Visit ER, get physically examined. Get all the STD tests done to rule out STI's & stay at the safer side. If STI is detected, you will be treated with antibiotics & antivirals.

Always go for protected sex & get treated along with your partner if detected positive for STI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
