What Causes Whooshing Sound Of Heartbeat In Ear?

I ruptured my left eardrum after a nasty bout of otitis media about three weeks ago. I have taken the full course of Amoxicillin and it has stopped draining and there is no pain. The only problem I am having is severely decreased hearing and the "whooshing" sound of my heartbeat in my ear. I see an ENT the 21st. What are the odds this will heal on it's own?

you have a perforation in your eardrums , a condition known as otitis media .
advice - Do not put water in the ear. keep it dry. avoid ear drops. avoid cold items. take an antihistamine and a nasal spray. avoid swimming. protect yourself from allergens and protect your sinuses .
if it's a small perforation, it can heal on its own if it's kept dry. your hearing will thus improve .
but if it keeps draining or is a large perforation I would prefer to treat your nose as well and then consider for a myringoplasty at a later date
