My throat has been hurting for the past week now (if not longer,) I am under the assumption that I have a sore throat, my question, however it: How serious can it really be ??? It hurts to swallow and even drink. So I am under the assumption that it could be worse than a sore throat. Am I right ???
Regarding your query for severe pain in throat, as you are already sufferring from sore throat, but unfotunately your throat pain is so severe that it is creating difficulty in swallowing. Here I would like to say that sore throat means infection in pharynx, but whenever there associated infections of tonsils (acute follicular tonsillitis, quency), ulcers over uvula and palate, the condition becomes worse and pain reaches to peak as to make patient unable to take anything orally.
Therefore thinking on your symptoms I think you should consult your ENT doctor as to rule out above possibilities and manage accordingly.
Regards.
