What Causes High Gamma Gt And SGPT In Blood Test Results?

I have blood work done as part of my annual check up and the report came back saying I had a very high Gamma- GT of 389 and a high SGPT/ APT of 55 they have advised i get other test including have my spleen checked please advise your thoughts on these readings

Usually ALT or AST values higher than "two times the upper normal limit", is considered abnormal ( in some countries, ALT or AST values of more than 100 are considered abnormal).

Value of AST or ALT greater than 85 or above maybe investigated further.

secondly, common causes for a high GGT are alcoholism and a medication side effect.

if the common causes are ruled out , then you may visit treating physician or hepatologist to advice some blood test to rule out autoimmune causes.
