What Causes Cramping, Constipation And Painful Periods While Having Hypothyroidism?

my name is judi flowers, age 63years. I always had heavy extremely painful periods. At present I have severe hypothyroidism. I get atiny spotting at the end of each month with severe to mild cramping and constipation. My former symptoms of pms and sore breast precede even now.

Hi,

The symptoms you reported are due to hypothyroidism. Irregular menstrual cycle, constipation and cramping are typical symptoms that usually improve within one month after starting treatment. I would recommend to start Levothyroxine (the dose recommended by your treating physician) and check the thyroid hormones after 6 weeks.
