Hi,

Regarding your question about methimazole and its potential risks during pregnancy, the medication is commonly used to treat hyperthyroidism. However, it is associated with a risk of birth defects if taken during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is important to discuss the potential risks and benefits of methimazole with your healthcare provider, who can guide you on the appropriate management of your thyroid condition during pregnancy.

As for the risk of infection and excessive bleeding with methimazole, these are not common side effects of the medication. However, it is important to inform your healthcare provider about any symptoms you experience while taking the medication, as they can advise you on the appropriate management. Again, it is important to speak with a qualified healthcare provider about your specific situation and concerns.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
