Weight Gain, Tiredness After Taking Setraline For Controlling Anxiety. On Synthroid For Hypothyroidism. Any Alternative Herbal Medication?

Does setraline cause weight gain? I am taking it to help control anxiety. In the past yr. I have gained about 15-20 lbs and often get very tired...sometimes feeling as if I have hit a wall and just cannot make myself "go". I also got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and am taking synthroid. I am feeling better than I was but I think I need to "get off" setraline. Could I instead consider alternative medication perhaps even herbal?

Setraline is an SSRI and is used for anxiety and depression.

Weight gain is a possible side effect of this medication for some persons.
It is also possible that your hypothyroidism may contribute to an increase in weight.

It would be best not to stop the setraline without consulting your doctor. It is possible that the medication is the reason for the improvement in your mood so your doctor will need to determine if you can come off.
