Ssri

What is Ssri?

Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors or serotonin-specific reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are a class of compounds typically used as antidepressants in the treatment of major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders.

SSRIs are believed to increase the extracellular level of the neurotransmitter serotonin by inhibiting its reuptake into the presynaptic cell, increasing the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft available to bind to the postsynaptic receptor. They have varying degrees of selectivity for the other monoamine transporters, with pure SSRIs having only weak affinity for the norepinephrine and dopamine transporter.

SSRIs are the most widely prescribed antidepressants in many countries. The efficacy of SSRIs in mild or moderate cases of depression has been disputed.

Hii, I am 27+ year male, about 4 months ago I had very mild chest pain which was sometimes on the right and sometimes on the left. From that time I started researching on the reasons of chest pain on google one night while again reading about heart attacks all of a sudden I started feeling uneasiness and I rushed to hospital, where initial ECG was sinus tachycardia and the next ECG was normal. I went to see a cardiologist where he asked me to undergo a ECHO and a TMT all of those were absolutely fine, I achieved 100% in TMT. Cardiologists says no heat disease.

But still back of the mind I always keep thinking that I will get a heart attack. The pain has not gone yet, its location is different all time, sometimes it is shoulder and sometimes in left hand, I feel like pain in some muscle or nerve. I get up in the night and start thinking about the pain.

what is the actual cause of the pain, 2 cardiologists says no heart problem.

my BP went high for few days ranging 130/80 to 150/80 (may be because I think too much about it)

I even got blood work done, serum (tychlirides?) is 300 it was 200 before 3 months (did it go up because of tension)

may I please gtet a clear answer....

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your input.

I am really sorry to hear about your problem. First of all your age is 28 years and you have completed a set of heart tests that are ECHO and TMT. Echo shows valve problems and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which are common causes of chest pain in your age but your...

I am 136lbs, F, 28yr. I have a history of migraines and bronchitis and random illness, which i always attributed to colds. I am pretty constantly fatigued and would like to gain back the activity level i once had. Within the last two years these colds have come into question and seem to be getting worse. I tend to get sick about 6+ times a year even with a flu shot. At the time of illness i am super exhausted, to the point of seeing stars when i try to do normal household activity and sleeping 10-12 hours a day, but i don't have a stuffy nose, vomit, or fever. I do have nausea, though, and a hard time taking a full breath. I also in the last two years have been having stabbing abdomenal pain with pressure that difficulty breathing. I have been getting sore joints as well. I have been cleared of mental illness. My lungs have been checked and cleared. Endoscope has come back clean. I don't have celiacs. I don't have diabetes. Im at a loss to why this is getting worse or what it happening. It is effecting my job and life.

i am trying to wean myself off of Paxil and everyday starting at about 2:00 I get horrible nausea , headaches, and shiftiness in my head. How long will this last and what can I take for remedy? I wAs taking 20 mg a day but for about a month now I have cut it down to 10 mg. Eventually I will cut that dosage in half , and so on, until I am completely off the medicine. I am female, 38 , with a history of depression . I hate the way Paxil makes me feel. I also take 1 mg of Ativan a day.

Hi... Welcome to healthcaremagic forum,
