Hello and welcome to HCM,
Epstein virus is a virus which causes a number of diseases.
It can cause infectious as well as neoplastic disorders.
Among the infectious diseases, most common is
infectious mononucleosis.
However, infectious mononucleosis usually affects young adults. It is characterized by
sore throat,
fever, enlarged lymph nodes of the neck, and increase in blood lymphocytes.
Among the neoplastic lesions common ones are -
Hodgkin lymphoma (neoplastic lesion of the lymph nodes), naso-pharyngeal carcinoma, gastric carcinomas to name a few.
Are you experiencing symptoms pertaining to any of these sites?
If yes, you can consult your physician for clinical examination.
However, self limiting infectious lesions are more commonly caused by Epstein Barr virus.
Anti-viral treatment is effective against most of them.
thanks and take care
