Suggest Remedy For Injury With Rusted Knife

my nephew 3+, has cut himself with a rusted knife, just scratch and little bleeding, given savlon, he has been given DPT earlier and his next dpt dose is when he will be four year. He has not been given any tt now but doctor recommended antibiotic flucloxacillin, his mother is confused. Need your suggestion .

Hi, welcome to HCM.
Since your child immunization is complete for age and though the knife was rusted, the scratch and bleeding was little, there is no need of giving tetanus injection.
Whenever a wound occurs, there are increased chances of staphylococcal infection so child should be given cover of antibiotics like cloxacillin. So, you should continue the antibiotic for atleast 3 days.
