Suffering From Fungal Infection, Increased After Sex. Taking Medication. Can I Use Cansoft Pessary? Dosage?

Hi doc, i am suffering from fungal infection. I have very bad vaginal itching sensation. I had been to my docter and i was given a cream and some tablet. Though she wanted to give me a vaginal insertion tablet like cansoft pessary she didnt because i am not married yet.
After this medication the itchin sensation had reduced but after having sex with my boyfriend it has increased again. Is this because my vagina is infected internally? If yes can i use cansoft pessary? N how many dose should i take? Please help me!

Hi.
Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.

In young girls like you, the higher level of estrogen in vaginal fluid increases the chance for fungal infection. It results in severe itching, burning and white discharge. For vulvovaginal candidiasis, Clotrimazole vaginal pessaries (vaginal insertion tablets) and topical cream are prescribed.

Although you are not married, since you are already sexually active, you can use the pessaries. For infection both inside and outside vagina both pessary and cream should be used. You can use Clotrimazole pessary 200 mg for three consecutive days along with 2% Clotrimazole topical cream 2 to 3 times daily till symptoms disappear.

Pessaries melt due to body heat and soothes the irritated mucous membrane and affords relief. Avoid sexual intercourse till your symptoms subside. Generally treatment for partner is not necessary. But if the infection recurs again after intercourse, then he too should get examined to rule out the possibility of infection.

I hope this is useful to you.

Hello,
You must use both anti fungal creams locally in vagina as well as intravagina pessary. In addition you can use oral anti fungal medications also.
It is best to avoid doing sex during the treatment but it can be done by using condom.
Vaginal pessary are used for 3 to 5 days.
I hope it helps.
Thanks
