Should Aspirin Be Taken Daily After Troponin Level Elevation To 0.7 After Coronary Incident In 2010?
I had a coronary incident in 2010. My troponin level was elevated to about 0.7. A cat reveled no damage to my heart nor to the blood vessels around my heart. Upon the doctor's recommendation I have been taking a 81 mg. aspirin daily. Should I be doing this?
There are some recommendations regarding aspirin use. The USPSTF ( a US based medical agency) recommends that men between age 45 to 79 and women between age 55 to 79, use aspirin daily once the benefits outweigh the risk.
The risk they are concerned about is irritation of the stomach lining.
In terms of benefits it is associated with decreased chance of stroke and heart attack.
If you are not experiencing any side effects from the aspirin and you are within the age group mentioned, it may be best to continue with the aspirin.
I hope this helps
