Rashes On The Chest, Legs And Groin Area. Antibiotics And Steroid Creams Advised. Chest Infection In The X-ray Report. Are These Connected?

Rash on back, chest, groin and going down legs in 85 year old. Gp took skin sample for testing and arranged chest x-ray, prescribed cream for ? eczema and took bloods. All tests clear. On follow up skin not improved. Prescribed antibiotics and more cream. Skin worse. GP has now prescribed steroids and said original chest x-ray showed recent chest infection. A new chest x-ray is being organised. What is the connection between the chest infection and the rash and what is the possible diagnosis?

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. Rash on your back chest and groin are indicative of a spreading infection and if you are not getting better with a cream for eczema it is almost certain that you have an infection. I do believe that you may have a simple skin infection and need treatment for the same. I recommend that you get your GP to start you on antibiotics in addition to the steroids so as to start feeling better sooner. I hope this helps.
