Persistent Cough, Phlegm In Cough, Difficulty In Talking. Taking Antibiotics. Should I Meet A Doctor?

Hello,
I am Carol Weston, I have been having problems with a presistant cough. I cough up phlem but it is clear. I am on antibodies but the cough continues. Should I seek medical attention. I have no pain or fever only this nagging cough. Sometimes I have this strange feeling that I have a difficult time talking. This is only brief when I cough everything is ok.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,

Persistent cough certainly deserves the attention of a doctor. Depending on the clinical state, presence of absence of fever, chest pain , past medical history, diagnostic possibilities could be suggested. Not all persistent cough deserve use of anti biotics.

A chest X ray, a complete blood count and a complete clinical review with a detailed family and medical history should be enough to guide us in getting a proper diagnosis. Clinical conditions like TB, Pneumonias form other bacteria, asthma and other pulmonary diseases are very probable possibilities.

I suggest you consult your doctor. Thanks and kind regards.
