Pain In Lower Back And Ovary. Multiple UTIs, Late Periods, History Of Cysts. Is Cyst Cause Of Late Periods?

Hello my best freind is having pain in her lower back and ovary all predominately on her left side. She has had multiple uti's close together and her period is 18 days late. She took a pregnancy test about a week or so ago but it came back negative. She does have a history with cysts but would that cause her to not have her period??

Hello
thanks for your query.
Polycystic ovarian disease is notorious for interfering with normal periods.
It is a condition where there is hormonal imbalance, and the ovary is studded with multiple small follicles, but none of them form a mature egg each month.
Hence there is difficulty in ovulation and menstruation.
PLease consult a gynecologist for thorough PCOD workup.
Weight loss and lifestyle management is a keystone of therapy.
Take care.
