Hi.. Presence of multiple fibroids can impair the progress of pregnancy. It can trigger contraction of the uterus causing expulsion of the products of conception. Failure of the cerclage procedure in treating the cervical incompetance can itself cause abortion. Any of the other factors or an alternate factor such as genetic abnormality, fetal defects either genetically or secondary to the fibroids, or estrogen secreting fibroids may have contributed to the abortion.. Hence, treating the above problems and getting a genetic counselling tests will help in preventing recurrence of abortions...

Continuation of pregnancy in the presence of fibroids can severly complecate pregnancy indangering the lifes of mother and fetus. Opening of the uterus mouth sounds like Cervical incompetence in which repeated miscarraiges are common. Discontinuation of pregnancy/abortion is the choice of treatment under such circumstances.
