Lump From Infancy Reappeared, Big And Hard, Blue Tinge, Painful. Advise?

Hi, I found a small lump on my daughters right side when she was a few months old, it was soft and squishy, I had it looked at and was told it was something to do with lymp something or other, it disappeared with her growth, but now nearly 3 it has come back with advengince, it's big and more hard than before, it has a blue ting and causes her pain, I am awaiting a referral, 4 weeks so far, and even in that time it has grew! Aim very concerned, we fly out in a week for a holiday abroad, is it even safe to do this?

Hi,

You fail to explain the exact location of the lump.I assume you are talking about a lymph node. Such nodes would enlarge and cause pain if they are infected.

If the size is too big I.e more than 1.5-2cms then a complete blood count and Fine needle aspiration cytology of the node could be done to know the type of infection and accordingly antibiotics could be started.I would recommend that you take a prior appointment so that the issue is sorted out before the journey.

Take care.
