How To Treat Pain Caused Due To Adenomyosis?

Hi I have been diagnosed with adenomyosis and have been experiencing painful periods and post period pain as well. I would like to avoid surgery, if possible. Should I continue to take the ibpurofen 400 mg? The pain after my periods is more intense than during the period. Please advise.

Adenoymyosis can be very frustrating and difficult to treat, so I really am sorry that you are going through this. Ibuprofen is definitely worthwhile taking, and if that can control the pain, you can stay on that for a long time. You can talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for stronger ibuprofen such as 600 or 800 mg. Other treatments include using birth control pills, a progesterone IUD, and other ways to try to mitigate the symptoms of a heavy and painful period. However, unfortunately, the only real cure is surgery and a hysterectomy. However, hopefully the other treatments can keep things under cotrol so you won;t need that. But once you are finished having children, that may be the right option. I hope this is helpful, please let me know if you have any more questions.
