Hysterectomy

Questions and answers on "Hysterectomy"

I had a hysterectomy in 2006. I had normal intercourse after that. I still have one ovary so am not into menopause. I have been divorced and have not had sexual relations for about 4 years. I recently had an encounter and by the third round I was sore and the thrusting motion had the tip of my vagina so painful. Is it because of the hysterectomy or lack of sexual activity for that long a period>
Do I need to consult my doctor for something. I was sufficiently lubricated and did not need a lubricant.

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. But with the information provided, the cause is not one of concern.

The presentation you are experienced could be due to two reasons, either one of them or both put together.

The first, is the long gap between the last...

Have any discharge at all. Also, I have a much lower sex drive and takes me much longer to have an orgasm, clitorally. I'm hoping this is due to my hysterectomy and what can I do? Please help!! Hi!
welcome to HCM!
Vaginal dryness is a common problem in pre-menopausal women with low levels of oestrogen, such as after hysterectomy .You can try local oestrogen available in the form of small tablets , vaginal rings, creams and pessaries. Vaginal dryness responds well to local oestrogen...

Hi,

Thanks for choosing HCM.

You have been advised a hysterectomy for bleeding at the age of 53. You do not have history of ovarian cancer in family.

Your concern is regarding removal of ovaries. The commonest age for menopause is from 45-55 years. So you are already in the menopausal age. The...

I recently had a complete hysterectomy via di vinci and all went well. However, from the first time I stood following my surgery I have had this pain in my left groin area and radiating into my hip. It was really bad earlier, but has improved over time. I can now stand and walk with very minimal pain, but the pain is still there. sometimes usually upon awakening, the pain feels like I have exhausted my hip muscles. the pain is bearable but I am wondering if it is normal. my dr gave me a steroid pak and that helped greatly and he has order pt. I just wonder what hysterectomy has to do with pt??? otherwise my procedure was a cake walk and my dr...he is wonderful, no complaints, I guess I just want to know what this pain could be. thanks.

Hello
Thanks for your query.
The position in which you are placed for hysterectomy can sometimes lead to compression of the nerves in your hip and leg.
This can lead to pain and tingling / numbness sensations in the area.
You should consult your doctor and ask about this specifically.
You can see...

On January 22st it will be 4 years since my hysterectomy . I had a LAVH and had no problems at all until recently and even I never noticed a difference but my husband has.He says during intercourse I push him out with my hips,at first he took it personally as rejection caused some marital problems. We've reconciled and neither of us understand what's happening. What could have changed ? Do I need further surgeries? What are some possibilities?

doctor1 MD

Hello
It could be due to loss of erection ,resulting in the penis being pushed out(rather a common problem). Hysterectomy does not affect vagina so it can't have a connection. Try sex after a pill of viagra and see if it helps.

I had dysplasia 12 years ago and had cryo? (freezing). Unfortunately, I was young when I had it and am only realizing recently that it was caused by HPV. My question is I am 37 years old and am wondering if I need to have a hysterectomy? I'm at a point in my life where I do not want any more children and want to do everything I can to be around for the ones I do have. Can you tell me what the recommendation is from a medical standpoint?

doctor1 MD

Hi!
it seems to me that you had mild to moderate dysplasia 12 years back .Dysplasia is just a premalignant condition not a malignancy.
As such it was already treated by cryo.cryo is an ablation therapy to freeze all abnormal areas and hence is an effective treatment and cures in 95 per cent...

Are we likely to conceive or is it best to try a treatment where the sperm is removed by needle. I am fit and healthy and he is relatively fit and healthy. Thanks.
