How To Avoid Skin Allergy Caused By Chlorine In Swimming Pool?

hi,im allergic to chlorine in the pool,after each time i go to pool,my face becomes red,itchy,and starts burning,i also get lot of raised acne like circular red lesions (like hives,im not sure)on the face after 3days of continuous swimming,they take about 3weeks to settle down after last swim,even after using products made for sensitive skin(my skin is sensitive to everything except dermalogica. is there any possible way to swim without suffering so much?i have heard of swim spray but cant find it in india.is it possible to reduce skin sensitivity?i apply sunscreen before swimming and vit c after.kindly provide your valuable opinion. dr.shilpi

Hello.
welcome to HCM.
I ll suggest you to avoid exposure to chlorine water if you are allergic to it.If that is not possible then avoid going swimming for 3 days continuously,you can keep a gap of 2 days in between.Make sure you take a shower immediately after swimming to remove traces of chlorine n apply good moisturizer. Before swimming, protect your skin with water resistant sunscreen.
If possible visit allergy specialist n get allergy tests done.
If you get allergic reaction then take ,Tab levocetrizine ,it will reduce the allergic episodes.
If any other doubts write to us.
