How Can A Heart Attack Be Treated In A Highly Diabetic Patient?
My mom just had heart attack yesterday. Her blood sugar was 500. She didn't know she is diabetic. My dad told me that doctor will not do anything yet because her heart only work 20 %. I am so stress. I don't know what will happen to my mom. Why doctor don't want to operate or do anything to help her? Doctor told my dad that they are giving her medicine and wait to see if she is better. what if she is not better then what will happen to her.
If she has compressed heart function, which contractility is only 20%, an intervention can have very high risk and it is dangerous. In this case the recommended option is medical treatment. When your doctor told you that they can't operate, it doesn't mean they don't do anything. In these patients at first blood glucose levels are stabilized, besides such patients receive treatment for heart attack and heart failure. The strategy is to give the patient medication and wait until she/he is stabilized. If there is a need for surgery after, then patient is operated.
Hope I could help you
