Have Pressure In Ears And Sensitive To Sound. Had Feelings Like Vertigo And Nauseated. Hearing Is Normal. Suggest?

i have pressure in my ears and am very sensitive to sound. I feel like my ears need to pop. There has been some fluid behind my ears. ABout two weeks ago i had feelings like vertigo as i was very nauseated and everything was spining. I related these symptoms to my ear as my ear has been bothering me. My hearing is fine as I've had a recent hearing test. But, I feel such pressure in both ears, sensitive to sound.. It hurts to listen to anything as the pressure feels like something just needs to pop.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

I have understood your concern regarding the pressure in the ear and the hearing problem.

You may have had an episode of fluid within the ear or Labyrinthitis. In both cases the treatment is similar. You can do the following:
1. I would normally start a course of antibiotic like amoxycillin-clavulanate combination along with an anti histamine like levocetrizine. Your doctor will know about these.

2. You can take steam inhalation at least two to three times in a day

3. If you are having vertigo then you may need to start an anti-vertigo tablet like betahistine 48mg per day in consultation with your doctor.

4. Avoid sudden movements and do not look up or bend down suddenly

5. Avoid listening to loud noise and do not walk into dimly lit room

Wait for a week or two for the symptoms to subside and if it does not get better then get an audiometric analysis done and get back to me or an ENT doctor with the reports,

take care and get well soon

regards
