Have A Swelling In The Proximal Phalanx In Finger, Hand. Is Painful. Small Patch Of Redness, Burning Sensation. Treatment?
I've had swelling in the proximal phalanx of the ring finger of my right hand for several weeks. While my "normal" left finger is approx. 57 mm in diameter, the swollen finger is approx. 69 mm in diameter. The swelling is not too painful, but makes it difficult to grip. I also have a small patch of occasional redness and burning sensation on the top side of the same finger at the distal interphalangeal. Some days the swelling, redness and burning sensation subside a bit. What do my symptoms suggest? Thank you. Mary
A detailed physical examination and appropriate investigations like hematological parameters and xrays of the local part are needed to establish a correct diagnosis.
I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
