Had Unprotected Intercourse. Took I-pill. Bleeding Not Stopped. Pregnant?

Hello sir. To start with, I had unprotected sexual intercourse with my girlfriend and she ate the I-pill right after. And im quite sure that i didnt inject the sperm inside her vagina. But the problem is: one and a half week had passed after he consumed the I-pill and then she started bleeding till now which is week now since she started bleeding. Can i know what this symptom is and if she is pregnant or not?

Thank you

Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Chances of pregnancy have always been there with unprotected sex. This bleeding is because of I-pill so you should not worry about it, bleeding stops simultaneously with her next period.
You should consult a gynecologist for urine, blood test and ultrasonography to rule out pregnancy.
GOOD LUCK.
Take care.

General & Family Physician Dr. Achuo Ascensius's  Response
Hello,
thanks for using health care magic.

Ipill is an emergency contraceptive pill with an undoubted effectiveness
when taken within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. The effective-
ness is even more when taken within the first 12 hours following the
unprotected intercourse.

Ipill is a progesterone which is a hormone. Progesterone in take distorts
the menstrual cycle in most women and creats an imbalance in levels of
hormones which in some women will manifests as persistent bleeding or
delayed menses. This is likely the case with your girl friend as it is less
likely that she could be pregnant. In this case if the bleeding persist,
drugs like oestrogen or combined oral contraceptive etc will be used to
control the bleeding.
Pregnancy test at this stage even if she is pregnant will not be accurate as
it will only be so after the expected date of her menses.
If she is loosing much blood, she needs to be put on iron to prevent anemia.
You should consider seeing a gynecologist if symptoms persist.
Best regards
Dr Achuo
