Questions and answers on "Anemia"

I have anemia, and im 15. I recently found this out but im a vegetarian, which obviously explains my anemia, and i currently have a medical bracelet for a penecillin allergy. It didn't even occur to me that anemia should be on a medical bracelet, but should it? I have to take iron supplements every day: around 100mg (which is about 7x what 'normal' people have to take). I was just wondering if you have to be a certain "amount" of anemic to get an anemia medical bracelet. Also if I do need to get that engraved on my current one, why? Is it because i have a chance of fainting if my anemia goes untreated, or what? Thanks! -Quinn.

2. Pencillin allergy is a life threatening condition and everybody should know, that you should have anything to do with...

I have anemia and I want to know if second hand smoke from a hookah or direct use of a hookah will have an effect

doctor1 MD

Hookah smoke will directly not worsen your anemia. neither the direct use or passive smoke will cause any effect. although suggested to reduce your exposure to this as much as possible and follow a good diet to increase your hemoglobin levels.

first of all you should get your blood test done called as "coagulation profile"
sounds like your blood has got thinner than normal which is the cause of bleeding. this ultimately can lead to anemia. Also get FBC done to check your Hb levels, if its too low then you might need some blood...

I am a 52 year old female. 6 years post hysterectomy. No Ovaries. I am on meds for depression and antiflamattories for severe shoulder tendinitis (both sides). Recent MRI suggested possible anemia due to dark bone marrow appearance. Starting a few days ago I smell all milk as sour. Even cheese. My family insists the milk is NOT sour so it has to be me. I have quit all milk products to avoid the smell.
