Going For Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Keeping Ovaries & Getting Bladder Sling And Having Fibroids And Adenomyosis, Should I Opt For Vaginal Surgery?
hi my name is bnbna and i just got my date today 2/3/14 for my laparoscopic hysterectomy keeping ovaries & getting bladder sling. I have fibroids and adenomyosis, lots of pain and long heavy periods. I heard a horror story online about an anesthesialogist who received this type of hysterectomy and because uterus was removed in many sections, she had cancer spread all throughout her abdomen. He s been doing these for 15 years and said if i wanted a vaginal surgery he would have to recommend another doc, but also recomended i did some research before decision. Whats your opinion.
I would recommend a laparoscopic surgery as it is considered less invasive as the vaginal one, and in todays medical field more commonly chosen over laparotomy.
Laparotomy carries a few larger risks as compared to laparoscopy, and most of our patients come requesting for a laparoscopy over a laparotomy.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
