Extremely swollen lip after falling off skateboard.

Hi, Yesterday I was riding my skateboard home at around 8:00 and my skateboard hit a pebble and I flew foward off my skateboard. I landed straight on my face because I didn t have the time to break my fall. I have a giant scrape under my left eye and left nostril . My left front tooth is wiggly and I m 13 so it s not supposed to be. And my upper lip is extremely swollen and I m in terrible pain. I didn t go to school because of my lip and the pain. Should I visit the ER or is there someway to stop the swelling ? Please help. Thank you.

Dentist 's  Response
It looks like you have a contusion of your lip. The swelling will subside in a week time. You need to consult a dentist to identify if there is any fracture of the root of the tooth by the help of an X ray. Traumatised tooth has chances of becoming non-vital over a period of time. Hence it should be monitored periodically and if so it has to be treated by Root canal treatment and a crown should be placed over the tooth.

General & Family Physician Dr. Tina Jacob Das's  Response
Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Injury to upper lip should be healing soon as it is mucosal part. Regarding the under eye and nostril, might leave a scar. And in any case I would always advice you to go to a ER and get the first aid done and also take a shot of tetanus toxin. Its preferable to be on multivitamins with Vit A,C & E so that there is a quicker healing of skin.Take care.
