Excessive Hunger, Fatigue And Weakness. Is This Due To Stress?

lately I have been very very hungry, I am always tired, i feel weak, and my period has been EXTREMELY heavy...I'm 16 years old and im a virgin so I'm not pregnant or anything like that...I am also undergoing a lot of stress and I also just recently became a vegetarian...Does this have anything to do with growing? or maybe the fact that I just recently became a vegetarian...I feel really weird, not like myself at all, should I be worried?

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.
Vegetarian status is nothing to relate with your symptoms.

Stress is known to disturb your appetite. Most commonly it reduces appetite but in 10% of cases, it increase the appetite.

You should also rule out physical causes of your symptoms like low hemoglobin or thyroid dysfunction.

I hope you will be fine soon.

Thanks.

hi there, first of all becoming a vegeterian has not been associated with heavy periods so do not worry about that. The excessive weakness and tiredness could be attributed to loss of blood in your menstural flow leading to anemia and fatigue due to the stress. You need to get yourself examined by your obgyn or your GP to rule out dysfunctional uterine bleeding which is a possiblity due to hormonal imbalance. You also need to get your blood examined for your hemoglobin level and a blood work up done to rule out any bleeding disorder which may also manifest in this form. Whatever it may be do get your self checked up thoroughly to rule out all the possible causes. Take care.

you may be having symptoms of Depression with atypical features (as per DSM IV TR ) or it may be a case of hypothyrodism . so get ur thyroid levels checked and also get ur serum B12 , Serum Folic Acid And Vit D 3 levels done. visit a psychiatrist and get urself started with an SSRI . being vegeterian has nothing to do with your condition and neither it is part of growing so just get urself evaluated. All the best.
