I started taking birth.control last tuesday, I than started my period last thursday. My last period was jan 24th. I have been irregular for two and a half years, going many months with out. But as of this last november I was starting to be more consistant..Although period started last thursday, it was heavy and painful, not to alarming. Yesterday in the morning I had noticed a huge clot in my bed and when I went to the bath room, it alarmed me a bit I still got ready for work and by the time I got to work I noticed my pants were soaked and I went home. At that point the clots intensified, I started to feel naseous and dizzy, so at that point I was scared and had my mom drive me to er, they did a pregnancy test and I was not pregnant, they tested my blood count and I was at 32 which is borderline low enough to start a transfusion, but they sent me home saying its cause my hormones are out of wak. Here I am the next day feeling just as bad, passing clots still, and I can t help to still be scarred that there is something wrong with me.what should I do?

doctor1 MD

I have a 7 month old baby, and am breastfeeding . My periods returned when baby 4 months old. My periods are extremely heavy and painful, so bad unable to leave the house really. Doc prescribed Cervasette mini pill to try skip or decrease heavy periods as I am going on holiday shortly on very long haul flights. With Cervasette my period returned 2 weeks after last one started! Just as heavy and painful. So GP prescribed Primulat to combat the heavy bleeding (current period lasting 8 days so far). She knows I am breastfeeding. I have taken 4 primulat pills (2 twice daily), but am worried as the info on the pills say not to take when breastfeeding. What are the side effects? I am planning on breastfeeding at least til baby is 12 months old, and necessary for milk supply not to be affected, particularly as I need to breastfeed when I am away for the 3 weeks too. Please could you help?

Hello amandajanebryant1,
At the outset I must congratulate on your grit: to breast feed your baby for at least for one year. It is not only the responsibility of the medical filed, but entire civil society to support such mothers.
We will divide your question into two parts?
The problems with...

Hi! i have adenomyosis and endometriosis . My doc put me on Yasmin pills to be used continously as my period were getting heavy and severely painful. However, since ive been on the pill, i started having pain on the side of my body and in the abdomin everyday. I also regularly suffer now from diarrhea and abdominal cramps . What is the reason for this?

doctor1 MD

Hi,
If the diarrhea and the cramps are related to your menstrual periods, prostaglandin release may be blamed. Persistent pain calls for medical attention and investigation. You should see a specialist and get an abdominal as well as trans-vaginal ultrasound to rule out organ pathology ans also...

Hi, I am 42 and have been told that I have a bulky uterus and adenmyosis ( not sure of spelling ) was told this is the reason for heavy, painful periods with blood clots which gets worse every month and has affected every aspect of my life as a single mom working. I have also been told that I have myofacial pain so a hysterectomy is not an option for me because of the increase of possible pain afterwards. I have been told to go on the pill continuously for six months to stop my periods and if that does not work to fork out over $300 for mirena . Is this correct??

doctor1 MD

hello,

Many clinical studies shows- for women with more extensive disease whose quality of life and health are threatened by heavy bleeding and pain, and for whom hormonal interventions fail, the best treatment until now has been hysterectomy.

Now a new study shows that Mirena may be just as...
