Does Acid Reflux Lead On To Barrett S Esophagus?

Hello. I have been treating acid reflux with a PPi(Prilosec, 20mg 2x/day for several years. Lately symtoms seem to be more intense. I have been scoped in the last 8 months and things were reported as ok. My question is could it be possible that I am advancing to barett esophagus and if so, could this condition have any effect on the spleen? I am exhibiting rather excessive easy bruising, mostly in my forearms.

Hello.

Barrett's is caused by chronic acid reflux into the esophagus but in general if it's well treated with a PPI that doesn't happen.

It would have no effect on the spleen and easy bruising could be from a low platelet problem, possibly caused by the spleen, but easy bruising might also indicate a liver problem so you need blood tests from your doctor to check all that.
