Delay In Periods. Taking Iron Supplements For Anemia. Could That Be Causing Delay?

hi. good day. I have a regular period ever since. i have my last periods last 1st march for march and 1st april for the month of april. last april after 2 weeks from my period, i had a bleeding. I was traveling that time. So after 2 weeks when I'm came back I consulted my doctor. It turns out that I'am anemic and my iron is low. So she gave me iron supplement tablets. My question is, I'am still not having my period until today 8/May. Is this due to my taking iron supplement tablet? Thank you.

Hi,
Anemia usually causes heavy periods and abnormal bleeding. Since you had some intermenstrual bleeding, it is possible that your cycle could be disturbed and your period may be delayed. Having an iron supplement does not delay your period; it corrects the abnormality by correcting the hemoglobin levels. You may wait for a few days or contact your consultant for further opinion. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
