Im a 54 year old women my period stopped at age 48 that has been 6 years ago about 2 weeks ago I had a period it last 7 days 1/8-1/14/14 and stopped it returned again 1/27/14 is this abnormal or is this menopause I also started a new medication for a diet could it be the cause of irregular

Hello mam, at your age and knowing the fact that you didn't menstruated for past 6 years you should not take it lightly. It needs to be investigated thoroughly. In my opinion get an ultrasound done and visit your gynecologist immediately For examination. Only after these two she can determine further evaluation. The cause can be local visible lesion of vagina or cervix or if everything on examination is normal then she might go for an hysteroscopy which is an old procedure to look for the inside lining of your uterus and take biopsy for analysis.
