Child Broke His Femur Bone. He Was Put In White Sling Thingy. Can It Have Broken During Delivery? Time To Heal?

my 5 month old son broke his femur bone I believe on may 6th, 2013. I don't know how but the doctors put him in a white sling thingy and they took it off today (may28). is that time enough for the bone to fully heal? another question: my son was 6 weeks early and weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. may it be possible that the femur got broke during delivery and not be noticeable for a few months?

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

As in children, the most fractures are green stick fractures, they heal fast because of non displacement of the bone ends.

Three weeks time may be sufficient for the heal of fracture in kids as the healing is fast.

This fracture is looking of recent one as fracture of long duration is not possible to present at this time.

If the fracture is spontaneous or with minimal injury child should be investigated for any abnormality of bone metabolism or the other problems which may cause easy fractures.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
