Can Microgynon Cause Spotting After Sex?

Hi I have been taking microgynon 30 for abt 3 months and I now stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago since we want to get pregnant. Today I had sex and right after I saw some spotting on the tissue. What can it be? Ps don't know if it matters- but I'm over weight.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
After stopping Microgynon, there would be some kind of spotting.
What makes this important is that it coincided with sex.
It could be your ovulatory period, is it ?
That would make it ovulatory spotting.
Also, obesity and stress sometimes can lead to spotting.
Post coital spotting however has different connotations.
IT could indicate a cervical lesion - an erosion, polyp or a growth.
If this happens again ( bleeding or spotting after sex ) , do not ignore it.
Consult your doctor and have a thorough internal check up - per vaginum and per speculum.
Alongwith this please have a Pap smear too if it is not done in the recent 6 months.
Take care.
