Can Infection From Swimming Pool Cause Sore Throat And Fever In My Child?

My 6 year old had a temp of 103 and now has a sore throat, a fever that we are giving her motrin for and small white bums on her tongue and swollen red gums. She vomited this morning as well. She just started swimming lessons this week, I am wondering if she got an infection from the pool? Bacteria? Help.

Pediatrician 's  Response
While it is possible that your daughter developed infection from the swimming pool, infections such as these can be contracted anywhere(ie: school, playground, home). I would not recommend cancelling future trips to the pool because of this. Sore throat and fever are very common symptoms in childhood. This could be a virus or it could be strep throat. I recommend consulting with your doctor so that the correct diagnosis can be made and the appropriate treatment prescribed.
