Can History Of Head Injury Cause Sinus Pressure And Anxiety?

Hi,
My name is Nicholas. I am 22 years old, 6'1, and 190 pounds. I do not have a medical history. I banged my head when I was 13 years old and it swelled out. I got a CT scan and they said I was fine. My question is whether or not it is possible to develop water on the brain 8 years after the initial impact, even if I was fine then. I've been feeling lethargic and perhaps sinus pressure. I also have anxiety, so it may be attributed to that. What are your thoughts?

Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The answer of your first question is "No". Head injury cannot cause fluid accumulation after 8 years. You had mild head injury at that time as your CT head was normal. So no need to worry about that injury.

Now coming to your sinus pressure and lethargicness, it can be due to "Sinusitis". It can be treated by

- Steam inhalation 4 times daily
- Take tablet Paracetamol with xylometazoline with Cetrizine combination after prescription. It will relieve pressure and open the sinus.
- Avoid cold food or drinks and environment.
- Take warm or hot food like coffee, tea.
- Also, consult ENT specialist. If active sinusitis, he will prescribe you antibiotic therapy like Coamoxyclav therapy for 5-7 days to treat infection.

your second complaint is anxiety. It can be treated by

- Yoga and meditation
- Consult psychiatrist for help and psychosocial therapy
- You can take anxiolytics like Clonazepam after proper prescription
- Avoid alcohol, smoking
- consult your problems with family and friends.

Hope it will help you. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
