Hello,

Birth control pills cause changes in hormone level. Due to changes in hormone levels nose bleeds can occur. Estrogen causes blood vessels to relax and dilate, making them more flexible, hence may be the cause of nose bleeds. In case nosebleeds occur regularly when on birth control pills, your daughter is advised to contact the doctor.

You will be recommended an alternative form of birth control that will suit you better. Irregular spotting or bleeding is another side effect of birth control that can last more than a year.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
