Another Lump In The Breast Which Was Aspirated Earlier Causing Pain In Breast, Neck, Shoulder, Back. What Could It Be?

Hi, I had been told that I had a cyst and a mass that caused concern. Was told by a breast surgeon that I needed a open surgical biopsy. He then told me the first thing that needed to be done was a wire localization. The day of the procedures, went in and had a ultrasound done that showed two cyst and mass in the right breast. A needle was inserted into the cyst one at a time and the first one collapsed pretty easily. The second had to be poked and prodded a little more. The suspicious mass took a long time to see if it could be aspirated, but I was told that it collapsed eventually and I did not need to go to have the open surgical biopsy. I asked for the fluid to be sent off and the results can back today stating that it is benign. However, as of yesterday morning I noticed a lump in the breast that was aspirated and as of last night I have burning radiating pain in my right breast, back, neck, collarbone, and shoulder. Also, it feels weird when I breathe, as well as nausea. What could be going on?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for lump in breast with pain in breast, neck, shoulder, back. You have not told us your age and time period since the lumps are present along with any history of any systemic illness.

In your case it can be due simple benign growth or fibromas most commonly. DO not worry about any type of malignancies in breast. We generally find multiple of lumps of benign nature in more than 30% females. SO do not worry about any serious nature of lumps.

The best way is by taking a fine needle aspiration biopsy. It clears all the doubts regarding the nature of lump. It is simple office procedure and can ask your doctor for same.

Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection. The pain in breast, neck, shoulder, back is just because of anxiety in yourself. So relax and relieve your anxiety as the swelling is totally benign.

Hope the information relaxes your mind.

Take care.
